The coin was donated by King William I of Württemberg in 1848. The reason was the fighting in Schleswig-Holstein in 1848 and the struggle against the revolution in Baden in 1848. Eligible Württemberg soldiers are indicated differently. Either for both campaigns, or only for those involved in the suppression of the Baden revolution. Württemberg had a contingent of one infantry battalion in Schleswig-Holstein. About 3,000 Württemberg soldiers participated in the battle in Baden. For commemorative military coins, August Ditelbach made new stamps. The main distinguishing feature is a modified laurel wreath with 8 groups of leaves on the left and right, which is connected by a loop below. Earlier commemorative coins (also from Ditelbach) had 15 or 10 groups of sheets on either side, which were cross-tied at the top and bottom. Ditelbach was a medallist at the Royal Württemberg Mint in Stuttgart from 1842 to 1870.
Among the participants in the campaigns, officers who had the right to the inscription from behind - 2 campaigns - and more (up to 5 campaigns) were also proved. Senior officers can join them. Medals of this kind with inscriptions are not yet known to me for one campaign. The circulation is indicated at 2282 pieces. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen before 1945, vol.
