A commemorative military coin for non-combatants was established along with the Warrior Medal on November 10, 1864 by King William I. Military doctors, paramedics, clergy and officials who crossed the southern border of Holstein had the right to receive. On January 24, 1865, the circle of persons eligible for receipt was expanded. Now civil servants who followed the warring army to the combat area or served in the army headquarters were eligible to serve. The medals are described as blackened. Most are made of pure steel. There are also dark medals. The reference inscription on the rim, unlike the fighter's medal, is absent. Medals in silver are later copies or privately acquired secondary items.
I do not know a single medal for the Austrian troops.
Round medal made of steel with a raised border. Above, a soldered grooved or smooth ear with a ribbon ring.
