The cross was renewed by Prince Adolf on November 18, 1914. The cross, like the cross donated by Prince Adolf Georg in 1870, was to serve to recognize the merits of the participants in the war. The cross was intended for officers and soldiers of the 2nd Hussar Regiment No. 14, the Westphalian Jaeger Battalion No. 7 and the Rhine Hussar Regiment No. 7.
For persons who deservedly served in the war, but did not fight, the cross was awarded on a white red and blue ribbon (installed in 1916).
Gilded bronze cross. The wishbones are straight and lightly welded only at the ends. Smooth transverse levers are edged with 2 lines at the edges. On the upper cruciform shoulder there is a soldered eye with a ribbon ring, which is smoothly closed by the back side.
