Awards of Germany - Order of the Royal House of Hohenzollern Bractern Komtur
The star of the Order of the Royal House of Hohenzollern, depicted here, refers to the period after 1918. Emperor and King William II. continued to award orders in his exile in Dorne. Most likely, the star was made by C.F. Zimmermann in Stuttgart. Pectoral stars to the large comture and comture differ mainly in the number of rays 8 and 6, respectively, and size. Large size comture 92 mm and comture 69 mm.
The Royal Order of the House of Hohenzollern was established on 18 January 1851, the 150th anniversary of its founding. Day of the coronation of Frederick I as the first Prussian king. This happened as a result of the state treaty of 1849.
The princely order of the Hohenzollern house that existed since 1841 was included in the number of royal orders. However, it was found that the Hohenzollern house order falls into 2 orders. Royal and princely orders that existed and could be granted separately and independently of each other.
The order was divided into 2 detachments of crosses and eagles. Crosses were divided into grosscomtur, komtur, knights and cavaliers. The Eagles also split into these classes. The 4th class of holders was only added in 1861 for both departments. Another addition was the star for Grosscomture and Comture, donated on October 18, 1861. They came to the ceremony with and without swords. Both squads of crosses and eagles could be worn side by side. Upon reaching a higher class inside the compartment, the lower one had to be removed. The pectoral stars of the Big Komtura were awarded mainly one by one. It can be assumed that this applies to the stars of Komtura. Pectoral stars appear significantly less often than the corresponding crosses .
