On January 18, 1851, the princely order of the Hohenzollern house was admitted to the royal Prussian order.
The day marked the 150th anniversary of Frederick I's coronation as the first Prussian king. Since then, the Order of Hohenzollern consists of 2 orders. 1st - the princely order of the Hohenzollern house and 2nd - the royal order of the Hohenzollern house. Both orders exist independently of each other. The motto of the Royal House of Hohenzollern is "From Rock to Sea."
The Royal Order of the House of Hohenzollern is subdivided into two divisions of the cross and eagle, each awarded in three classes (Grosscomtur, Komtur and Knight). Crosses were determined by the motive of loyalty to the king. The fight against internal and external enemies should be expressed unambiguously. The squad of eagles was to symbolize honor and merit as a reward. King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. For the first time there was an opportunity to purchase an order to raise funds. In 1861, King William I created the 4th class for both departments. At the same time, the venality of the order was again canceled. The class of eagles was assigned mainly to civilians such as teachers and clergy. Awards were most often made to distinguished public servants on anniversaries or in retirement. The Cavaliers' Eagle was also awarded anniversary numbers 50 and 60. The shield is silver with a raised polished edge. The base is finely grained and increases the polished number. The widespread opinion in collector circles that only eagles with an interval between wings and writing are considered donated originals cannot be confirmed, since there are images of carriers in which eagles with adjacent wings are clearly visible. Also, emerging eagles without an enameled chest shield cannot be considered awarded.
Order in the form of a standing eagle made of silver. Eagle with enameled chest shield. The head is surrounded by a round hoop. On top of the hoop is a soldered, ordinary ear with a ribbon ring.
