Awards of Germany - Royal House Order of Hohenzollern Adler with anniversary number 50
Anniversaries were awarded the eagle of the cavaliers with an anniversary shield. Most of the cases involved teachers, clergymen or other public servants who served faithfully and flawlessly for 50 years. The anniversary number was awarded only along with the award. Separate assignment (only) of the anniversary number was not possible.
The Royal Order of the House of Hohenzollern was established on 18 January 1851, the 150th anniversary of its founding. Day of the coronation of Frederick I as the first Prussian king. The motto of the order is "From Rock to Sea." This happened as a result of the state treaty of 1849. Since then, the Order of Hohenzollern consists of 2 orders. 1st - the princely house order of Hohenzollern and 2nd - the royal house order of the kings of Prussia. Both orders exist independently of each other. The Royal Order of the House of Hohenzollern is divided into two departments of the Cross and the Eagle, each of which is awarded in three classes (Grosscomtur, Komtur and Knight). The 4th class of holders was only added in 1861 for both departments. Another addition was the star for Grosscomture and Comture, donated on October 18, 1861. The class of eagles was assigned mainly to civilians such as teachers and clergy. Awards were most often made by an honored public servant upon retirement. Both squads of crosses and eagles could be worn side by side. Upon reaching a higher class inside the compartment, the lower one had to be removed. The widespread opinion in collector circles that only eagles with an interval between wings and writing are considered donated originals cannot be confirmed, since there are images of carriers in which eagles with adjacent wings are clearly visible. Eagles that appear without an enameled chest shield cannot be considered awarded.
