Anniversary medals for midwives were established by Grand Duchess Louise in 1884. In agreement with the Home Office, the award was to be awarded in one class after 35 years of impeccable service. Baden Women's Club was to deal with the awards. Applications were sent by the district doctors concerned through the service route to the Baden Women's Association and were decided upon by the Grand Duchess. The first uniform was made of silver and read "FOR 35 YEARS." In the background, in addition to a plaster bust with neck hordes, an elongated clover cross and 4 small 6-beam stars in 4 corners were depicted. In 1887, the award became a two-year award. The original 35 years were reduced to 25 years, and the gilded step was expanded after 40 years. The inscription on the tape read: "FOR 40 YEARS" or "FOR 25 YEARS." The background was now an oval plate with a putto head, free-floating tape, and writing tape. During the lease period, the font was changed to "FOR FAITHFUL SERVICE." (exact time unknown) For merits exceeding 50 years, the golden loop was given special recognition. (Total 2 awards) The awards were announced in the Baden Women's Union bulletins.
By 1917, the following awards were made: 1319 silver medals (including for 35 years) and 379 silver-gilded medals for 40 years. A famous manufacturer was Ludwig Birch from Karlsruhe. Punches - LB - and - 800 - occur respectively on the carrying eye.
The medal is oval in silver with a raised border. Above, parallel soldered eye. Three-section decorative support ring for tape expanding from above is mounted in it.
