German Awards - Duke Carl Edward Medal
The medal was established on August 6, 1905 by Duke Karl Edward. She replaced the Duke Alfred Medal, awarded by that time. The medal was awarded in 2 classes, differing only in size and method of wearing. The statutes also provided for the awarding of gold medals and the awarding of former medals of Duke Ernst and Duke Alfred, as appropriate. However, none of these medals were awarded. The medals were manufactured by Chr. Lauer in Nuremberg. The stamp was made by sculptor Max von Kawaczynski from Berlin. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945, vol.
