Women's Merit Cross 1. The class was planned as a promotion. The 1st class was to be awarded only to women who had previously occupied the 2nd class for 10 years. (Code of Laws and Orders No. 36 of April 25, 1912) The abolition of the monarchy and the abdication of the princes after the 1st World War did not allow the implementation of this provision. All merit crosses 1. Therefore, the class must be assigned based on exceptions. Among the awardees was the German Empress Augusta Victoria Queen of Prussia. The Women's Cross for Merit in the Duchy of Braunschweig was established on April 25, 1912 by Duke Johann Albrecht of Mecklenburg. After Prince Albrecht of Prussia, from 1907 he was regent of the duchy. It was awarded... " women and virgins earned by selfless personal activities in the field of charity." The manufacturer was the court jeweler Hermann Jürgens from Braunschweig. Women's merit crosses are very rarely awarded. Requell and Fisher "Orders, honorary signs and signs of the Duchy of Braunschweig-Luneburg..." indicate only 9 awards for 1st grade and only 20 awards for 2nd grade .
The cross is gilded silver with straight cross sleeves. The ends are 5-layer welded and expanded into sheet form. On the upper cruciform shoulder is a parallel smooth ear. Elongated band ring is mounted in it.
