The awards were established on May 28, 1893 in honor of Braunschweig Land Fire Day. Brackets were awarded in 3 stages, for 10, 15 and 20 years of faithful service in the fire department. The manufacturer was the firm of Gustav Hanneck in Braunschweig. The award included a certificate issued by the Braunschweig Land Fire Committee. The awards existed in parallel with the award established back in 1887 by Prince Albrecht of Prussia as regent of the duchy, and continued to be awarded after the 1st World War until 1936. The award was presented by a certificate from the Braunschweig State Fire Committee. After the unification by the National Socialists, the award ended.
