The Comtur cross shown here could be called Comtur 1. Class with corresponding thoracic star and as comtur 2. A class is assigned. The order was established on December 15, 1865 by the King of Hanover, George V. The slogan of the order was "SUSCIPERE ET FINERE," to undertake and bring to the end. It consisted of 5 classes: the Grand Cross, Komturkreuz 1st class, Komturkreuz 2nd class, Knight's Cross 1st class and Knight's Cross 2nd class. The name of the order should remind of 2 ancestors. The Grand Master of the Order was the King. The order was awarded for services to the state, excellent civic virtues, merits in art and science, as well as personal recognition of the king. The Order of Ernst Augustus was in the rank of the Order of the Guelphs. The awarding of the Order of Gelfen assumed that the natives had the Order of Ernst-Augustus in the corresponding class. In the event of an increase or death of the awarded, the order was subject to return. Attached to the order were the 1st and 2nd. Merit Cross. Recipients could be civilians, as well as military personnel, foreigners and foreigners. The author of the project was the chief court construction council Justus Molthan. A Maltese-shaped gold cross with small balls at the tips of the crosses. The cruciform arms are maroon golden and enameled white. Front and back sides with false medallion. Between the cross sleeves, respectively, a soldered, openwork royal crown. Between the tips of the upper cruciform shoulder is a wide, furrowed ear. This is a small ring and a double elongated ribbon ring.
