German Awards - Commemorative Badge for Civilian Doctors 1866
This cross was awarded by King Ludwig II on February 25, 1867 as an honorary badge to doctors and wound doctors of civil status, who deserved the care and care of the wounded in the war of 1866. Persons who worked as assistants were also awarded. In total, about 60 copies of this commemorative sign were awarded. The original award stamps no longer exist. Fakes were made, which were cast and subsequently expelled.
Cross made of dark oxidized bronze with slightly figured cross-shaped sleeves. The cruciform shoulders have a raised smooth edge. Front and back with a round central screen. On the back is a vertical pin.
Front side:
- The cruciform arms are cross-hatched and carry one Aesculapian.
In - the round central shield (8 mm), surrounded by an oak-leafy wreath, there is a number - 1866 -.
- The background consists of a diamond pattern.
Downside:
- The transverse arms are cross-hatched and have no aesculapies.
- The circular central shield has a smooth raised edge and is smooth without inscription.
