The medal was established in honor of the 25th anniversary of the reign of King Charles on June 25, 1889. This medal was received by invited guests, yard and state officials on duty, officers and yard employees. Gold medals were intended only for the invited nobility and were awarded in very small quantities. Bronze medals were awarded to the lower ranks and are less common than silver. The silver medal was intended for senior officials, officers and other guests of the same class. Jubilee medals were minted at the Royal Mint in Stuttgart. In total, about 2,600 silver medals were awarded. The stamp was made by medalist Karl Schwenzer at the Royal Württemberg Mint in Stuttgart.
