The Cross of Remembrance of the Liberation Wars was established on June 2, 1816 by Prince Friedrich Georg Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt. The returning troops of the Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt contingent, who participated in the war against Napoleon and were impeccable, were to be awarded. The contingent consisted of 593 people. A commemorative cross was presented to participants on 2 July 1816 by Colonel Brockenburg. The crosses were made in two parts. Separately embossed front and back sides were then soldered. Nemmergut also indicates relief crosses in the piece. Whether these second parts or crosses purchased for the buckle must remain open. Crosses are very rare due to the very small size of the contingent. Source: Nemmergut, German Orders and Insignia until 1945, Volume 3.
