German Awards - 1888 Diamond Wedding Medal
King William II. by order of May 9, 1899 established a special plate for diamond wedding couples. This medal was awarded to couples who had been married for 60 years. This medal was presented in a case with a corresponding congratulatory letter. A silver wedding medal was recessed in a gilded bronze frame. The flag bearer for this medal was Emil Weigand. The design of the gilded tablet was created by Professor Emil Döpler. Professor Otto Rohloff then produced plaques designed by Döpler. Information provided by Tewes, numismatic journal article # 18/2010. The bronze gilded tablet was cast in a circulation of 685 pieces. The plaque is stored in a brown case, slightly tilted forward. On the lid is a golden rim and in the center is a golden imperial crown with fluttering ribbons.
Round silver medal with rim. This is built into a gilded bronze frame.
Front side:
- On a gilded frame above the medal is a large imperial crown with flying ribbons.
- Against the background of the crown, the sun's rays. Ribbons frame the medal from above.
- Under the medal at the top of the semicircular shape of the pedestal, the number is 60 -.

In the - center are right-facing portraits of William II with his wife Auguste Victoria.
- William II in uniform and cloak with orders around his neck and collan of the royal order.
- Auguste Victoria in a dress and 2 chains around her neck.
- Skirting the edge of pearls. Below is a small producer: - E.WEIGAND SC -
- Along the edge is an arched inscription: - WILHELM - D.K. - KÖNIG - V. PREUSSEN. - AUGUSTE - VICTORIA - D. K. K. V. PR.-
Downside:
- Gilded frame with ornamented border. Under the medal there are 2 intertwined rings,
- Starting from them, 2 branches frame the medal to the top margin of the frame.
