The award was established on February 1, 1848 by Duke Leopold Friedrich for military personnel from sergeant major to 2nd grade. Then a service award cross for officers was established after 25 years. Presented here 1. The class was a gold-plated buckle and assigned after 20 years of service. 2nd grade in silver was awarded after 12 years of service. From 1848 to 1855, only military personnel and members of the gendarmerie of Anhalt-Dessau were awarded. Until 1864, members of the joint contingent with Anhalt-Dessau-Köthen also received service awards. On May 8, 1864, new statutes were adopted. Since then, soldiers of the Anhalt Infantry Regiment No. 93 and gendarmes of the united duchy could also be awarded. As usual, the war years were counted twice. Time in captivity was not counted. The use in military units of other states or the use for the protection of forests, etc. was taken into account. Service awards were subject to return from 1864 after the death of the borrowed. Exact award figures are not known. On April 6, 1870, the buckles were replaced with statewide service awards. The exception was the Ducal Jaeger Brigade. Members of the gendarmerie received service awards for 12 and 20 years before 1913. These service awards are 43.5 mm wide.
