This award was presented by George IV, guardian of Duke Charles II. June 11, 1818 in memory of the fallen Duke Friedrich Wilhelm. All fighters who participated in the battles against Napoleon from June 15 to July 7 and were part of the Braunschweig troops could receive this medal. The exceptions were soldiers who committed a crime, deserted during combat, or did not return after being pardoned. This medal was made of captured guns (bronze) and has as its feature in the edge of the medal the name and rank of the awarded, and often the military unit.
Due to production-related wear, several variations are known. The circulation is about 5600 pieces.
