The award for teachers, elders, housewives in state educational and charitable institutions was established by Grand Duchess Louise on December 3, 1880. This award was presented in 2 stages.
After 25 years of service, a silver pendant was awarded, and after 40 years, a silver gilded pendant. The depicted badge of honor without indicating the time of service was introduced at an unknown time. Whether it replaced the award for 25 years or was awarded for lower years of service, such as 15 years, is unknown. Since these awards were not published until 1915, one should proceed from the period from 1915 to 1918. On two badges of honor for 40 and 25 years of service, central, Roman numerals were engraved on the laid oblong cross. Only women working full-time in the humanitarian field were awarded. This mainly concerned institutions supported by the Baden Women's Association. Applications for the award were processed by the board of the Baden Women's Union and published in the Club Newspaper until 1915. By 1906, 101 women had been awarded. The awards were non-refundable. When reaching the highest stage, the lower one had to be dropped. The pendants were made by jeweler Ludwig Birch in Karlsruhe. The award was worn on a chain or black ribbon around the neck. On the reverse side is engraved the name of the carrier. A premium without a number is probably even less common than a premium for 40 years. Award data is unknown.
Elongated silver pendant. The flanks are bent and pointed up and down. On the front side there is an elongated cross. Parallel round eye is soldered on upper extremity. An elongated decorative support ring is mounted in it.
