German Awards - Badge Honorary Member of the Saxon Military Union
The Saxon Military Union was founded in 1873. Since 1892, it was allowed to bear the name Royal Saxon Military Union. At the time, KSMVB consisted of approximately 1,200 clubs with approximately 137,000 members. In 1889, uniform insignia were introduced in S.M.V.B. These included membership badges, functional badges for boards, and then special honorary badges for multi-year membership. After World War I, 1920 were 1 a badge of honor and 2. Class created. In 1923, they were supplemented with the 3rd class badge of honor. Other awards of the Association established in the 20s were honorary chapter insignia, federal insignia. The badge of honor for women and the Bundesdank badge with a crown followed in 1930 and 1933, respectively. In 1933, the Association, like many others, was forcibly incorporated into the Union of Nazi Kaifhausers. At the time of amalgamation, S.M.V.B. had about 1,700 clubs with about 196,000 members.
Functional badges for board members and district councils were originally worn separately above the club badge. Around 1903, they began to solder ribbons with the badge. Notable manufacturers were Glaser & Sohn, Dresden and Cohne & Northmann.
Gold-plated non-ferrous metal suspension. The attachments and the shield riveted below are silver plated. Support is connected to support plate by means of 4 cotter pins. The central coat of arms and writing ribbon are made of porcelain. The tape is made separately and soldered to the main icon. On the reverse side of the tape, a small eye is soldered in the center with a ring of tape for attachment to the bandage.
Front side:
- The silver lining consists of a figured, oval shield.
- The shield is held on the right and on the left by 2 lions. The oval in the center is enameled.
- It is horizontal black and gold striped. Diagonally green enameled diamond crown.
- The gilded base slab above the silver coat of arms depicts the royal crown.
- To the left and right of the crown there are 3 flags with trophies. The panel is semicircular down.
- Below is a riveted, curved, silver-plated sign with the inscription of the district.
- Here - DISTRICT - MEISSEN -.
- Behind the shield are crossed 2 cannon pipes and jewelry, in the center is a small order.
- The upper band is curved and curled laterally. On a white enameled background there is an inscription:
in - black - PRECINCT HONORARY MEMBER -.
Downside:
- Half-naked and gilded. Top solder joints of the tape.
- On the side there are 4 holes through which the support pins are inserted and bent.
- Below there are 2 rivets with which the curved font is attached.
