Iron Cross 1. The class of 1914 was strongly associated with the re-flight of the 1st form of 1939. This variant was used only at the beginning of the war. Closely related production is extremely rare. The cross is made of silver and iron. The repeating clamp is silver-plated from non-ferrous metal and is attributed to Berlin-based manufacturer Börger. Repeated braces for the 1914 Iron Cross were established along with the renewal of the Iron Cross on 1 September 1939 by Adolf Hitler. Repetition of the Iron Cross 1. The class of 1914 was worn over the Iron Cross or, as shown here, directly firmly connected to the cross. The connection between the Iron Cross and the repeated twine was also resolved in different ways. Ridges or whole plates were also usually soldered for reinforcement. Like all iron crosses 1. Class there are pieces with a needle or screw washer for fastening. Due to the many manufacturing capabilities and different manufacturers, crosses vary in size and weight. Source: J.
