German Awards - 1939 - Iron Cross 2. Class 1914 (1st form)
Repeated clips for the 1914 Iron Cross along with the 1939 Iron Cross were donated on 1 September 1939 by Adolf Hitler. These repeating staples were donated to both 1914 1st Class and 2nd Class carriers. Awards were given to Cavaliers of the Iron Cross of World War I if, during World War II, they were repeatedly eligible to be awarded the Iron Cross.
The 1st class screed has a vertical pin or screw disc and is attached above the cross. There are also known industries in which the screed was firmly attached to the Iron Cross of the 1st class on the upper cross. Rewinding of the 2nd class was performed using 4 cotter pins and fixed on the ribbon of the 1914 cross. There are also braces with 2 cotter pins. The first form of ties of both classes depicts a trapezoidal shield, whose ends are slightly bent inward. The 2nd form has straight ends on the shield. Class 2 braces show dimensional variations by manufacturer. They range from 31mm to 28mm wide. For large order clamps, repeating clamps of a reduced shape (25 mm) were also made. They were only used for braces and were therefore not awarded.
Braces were usually made of silver-plated non-ferrous metal. Silver-plated zinc braces have been found since about 1943. In case of screeds with manufacturer's designation, they hit the wreath from behind.
