Awards of Germany - Prussian Cross of Memory of the War of 1914-1918 for non-combatants

This cross was established by the Association of Prussian war veterans in the German Union of Warriors 1914-1918. e. V., for participants in the First World War who did not fight at the front. This cross was awarded with and without swords. For especially honored members of the Society, the 1st Class Cross of Honor was established. Since the Weimar Republic did not have orders and commemorative awards reminiscent of the World War, numerous military and soldier associations established their own awards. Such crosses were instituted by the various warrior unions of the Weimar Republic for their members in their respective colours and arms. Crosses were issued by clubs, but, as a rule, were paid by themselves.

Non-ferrous metal silver cross. The cruciform arms are enameled with white and burgundy silver. Along the edge is a wide black enameled border. Front and back sides with enameled medallion worn. On the upper cruciform shoulder there is an arched segment with an ear and a belt ring.

Front side:

• Round enamelled central shield with Prussian eagle with Hohenzoller chest shield on white background
• Around the perimeter is a black enameled ring with a gilded font:
• - PRUSSIANS - BRAVE - WARRIORS - and oak leaves gilded edge.

Downside:

• Round, white enameled central shield with gilded numbers 1914-1918, separated by a horizontal stroke
• Around the perimeter is a black enameled ring with a gilded font:

• On the upper cruciform shoulder is silver-plated oak foliage.
• On the left cross there is an inscription: - MIR -.
• On the right cross shoulder there is an inscription - WAR - silver-plated.
• On the lower cruciform shoulder is silver-plated oak foliage.
