German Awards - Prussian War Memorial Cross 1. Class for military aid and care of the wounded red medallion
This War Remembrance Cross for war relief and care of the wounded as a cross may be similar to other awards than 1. are called a class. It was awarded probably only for distinguished service to senior figures in Germany and abroad who advocated for wounded or captured German soldiers. Pin crosses are known with a red medallion and a white cross, as well as a white medallion and a red cross. So far, no statutes or assignment rules have been defined.
The Prussian Cross in memory of the war for assistance in the war and caring for the wounded was established by the Association of Prussian War Veterans in the German Union of Warriors in 1914/18. Like crosses for fighters, members of the Association who were involved in helping and caring for the wounded should be able to wear a commemorative cross. Various variants of these crosses are known. Eight-pointed crosses with enameled crosses and straight crosses (EC form) without enamel on the crosses. Eight-pointed crosses are divided: a cross-pin, probably of the 1st class, for military assistance and care for the wounded, has white enameled cross hands with a black outer edge and a green oak-leafy wreath between the cross hands. The alleged 2nd class has gold beams of radiation between the cruciform sleeves and does not have a black outer edge. Accepted 3rd class without a radiation beam between the cruciform shoulders. Crosses come with a white and red medallion. I do not know anything about whether the division into classes I have conceived is so justified. Crosses for war relief and nursing the wounded are less common compared to battle crosses. In particular, this concerns the plug cross presented here. I would appreciate more details.
Eight-pointed cross made of gilded non-ferrous metal. Cross-shaped brackets are golden-border with black enameled border and white insides. On the front side there is a relief enameled medallion.
