The rescue medal of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Strelitz was established in 22.04.1922 by order of the Ministry of State. The signatory was Baron von Reibnitz. The project was designed by Ernst Greyer, a sculptor from Berlin-Neukölln, who won the tender to design the medal. The medal was awarded (as before) to persons who, risking their own lives, saved other people from mortal danger. After the death of the murdered, the medal was returned. If the awardee was convicted of a crime, the medal was stripped. The medals were made by Godet in Berlin. A total of 55 medals were made, of which only 10 were awarded. All but one medal was awarded for rescue from drowning. (This medal was subsequently gilded.) Nestrelitz watchmaker Karl Friedrich Michaelis received permission to make miniatures. However, they are unknown to me.
Round medal made of oxidized bronze without a raised edge. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
