German Awards - Badge of Honor for 50 years of service to the LV Saxon Fire Department
The Federal Fire Service of Saxony in 1923 created an honorary badge for 50 years of service. The award was given to firefighters after at least 50 years of faithful membership in the Saxony Land Fire Association. The presentation included a certificate. The award was associated with a monetary gift. The manufacturer of the badge of honor was probably Glaser & Sohn in Dresden. Not all crosses are factory marked on the back. There are options in the font size of the central medallion, the location of the eyes (vertical/horizontal) and with the cut leaves in the rhomboid crown between the cruciform shoulders. The design is modeled after the Order of Merit of the Kingdom of Saxony. The badge of honor is very rare and accordingly expensive. Since 1997, the Saxony Federal Fire Service has again introduced an identical badge of honor for 50/60/70 years of service. Source: Gert Efler, German Fire Honour Badge 1802 - now, 1988
