The Luftwaffe observer mark was presented by Reichsmarschall Hermann Göring to the Luftwaffe Commander-in-Chief on 19 January 1935. Active Air Force personnel trained as observers were eligible for admission. In addition, World War I soldiers could receive this badge if they worked as observers before the foundation and were required to perform service flights in the Air Force. The same can be said for officials and soldiers who already held an observer badge, an aircraft commander or a World War II airborne paratrooper and were required to perform official flights. Various variants were made of different materials. The first badges were made of bronze, later zinc.
High oval badge of silver plated zinc. The eagle tilted separately and turned black. At the back is a vertical pin. Manufacturer designation on eagle.
