This cross was established on January 1, 1858 by the statute of Prince Henry LXVII. This award was intended for officials and servants who, for many years in the court, state or cameral service, proved their loyalty to the princely house and official loyalty. As a rule, the cross was awarded after 25 years of service. However, the expiration of 25 years of service was not eligible for this cross. The cross was donated in grade 2 as a gold and silver cross. The Gold Honorary Civil Cross was reserved only for high courtiers and civil servants. The first crosses were made hollow with smooth cross-shaped sleeves. Later, the crosses were finely indented and the crosses were massive. The gold crosses were then made of gilded silver. Round central signs (15 mm) are enameled in white and surrounded by a green enameled oak wreath. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945, vol. II, 1997.
