- Material: Silver

For the first time for the principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen, rescue medals were donated by Prince Gunther Friedrich Karl in 1868. The first medals were awarded only in silver and wore the initials - G-F-C- on the obverse. The medals were 24 mm in size and weighing about 6.3 g. After Prince Karl Gunther took office on July 17, 1880, new stamps were made a few years later. They now depict a portrait of Prince Karl Gunther and are slightly larger (30 mm) and heavier (14 g). Until 1898, medals were awarded, as before, only in silver. Since 1898, the fund was expanded with a gold medal. Since then, he has repeatedly escaped danger. The stamps were slightly altered. The main difference between the new stamps is that the neck now touches the edge. First class awards are not set. 2nd class in silver with the same size is somewhat lighter and very rare.
