The silver medal "For Loyalty and Merit" was established on March 28, 1867 by Prince Henry XXII. Senior line created. Persons who distinguished themselves by their attachment to the princely house, commendable activities in general or a particularly commendable act were awarded, the merits of which, however, were not enough to be awarded the civil honorary cross established on September 15, 1858. This made it possible to expand the possibilities of awards, as well as to note minor merits. In 1871, swords were added to distinguish themselves from the enemy. They were initially awarded a medal. Since 1872, a modified and ready-made crossed sword has been soldered under the eye. The medals were made by the court jeweler G. A. Scharffenberg in Dresden. I don't know anything about the number of awards. Due to the small size of the principality, medals are quite rare. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945, vol. II, 1997.
