Civil merit medals depicting Grand Duke Leopold were donated upon his assumption of office in March 1831. They were awarded the Large Gold, Small Gold and Silver Medals Civilverdienst. The new front side stamps were made by Ludwig Kahel, who had already made the faces of the last medals for the Grand Duke Ludwig. He was a medallist and director of the Karlsruhe Mint. The rear parts were additionally made according to the design of Karl Wilhelm Döll. During the rental period, the front and rear brands were updated several times. There are several options and combinations. Baden's first civil merit medals were donated around 1790 by Margrave Carl Friedrich. Previously, medals could not be worn. Despite the dignity of the Elector already acquired in 1803 and the Grand Duke in 1806, medals with the census of the Elector or Grand Duke Karl Friedrich are not known. The first civilian medals with the name "Grand Duke" (MAGN.D.BAD.D.ZAERING.) were established by Grand Duke Karl Friedrich in 1810. The 2nd form bears the image of Grand Duke Charles and was granted only in 1817/18. For the first time with the signature of Karl Groscherzog of Baden. The third variant was introduced by Grand Duke Ludwig in 1818. The 4th form shown here. She has been awarded the Civilverdienst silver medal about 320 times.
