German Awards - Victory Medal/Feldherren Medal 1870/71 in Silver
This large medal was established after the victorious campaign against France, after which William I was crowned German emperor. The foundation was adopted for 1871. This medal was awarded as an honorary gift to honored military leaders and politicians. The medal was issued in gold, silver and bronze. The obverse was created by the stamp cutter Emil Weigand, the reverse by Friedrich Wilhelm Kullrich. The medal is very rare. Only 25 copies were minted in gold. They were probably awarded to 24 military leaders and politicians, as well as emperors. 100 medals were minted in silver, and 134 copies in bronze. Who received these medals is unknown to me. (I would be grateful for more information) Source: A. Husken, Catalog of orders, honorary signs and awards... Kingdom of Prussia, Republic of Prussia, taking into account the German Empire, vol.
