This medal was established in 1842 by King Frederick William IV, originally under the designation - an army medal in silver. The king, in his presence at the silver wedding of Tsar Nicholas I and Tsarina Alexandra in St. Petersburg on June 13, 1842, awarded them 128 soldiers of the grenadier company of the Imperial Guard. The Empress was Princess of Prussia. The medal was in the tradition of the medal (5th class) of the Order of St. Anne, awarded by Tsar Nicholas I in 1835. So it was in the company. Soldiers who participated in the campaign wore the medal on a black and white ribbon, all others on an orange and white ribbon. The second award ceremony took place on March 17 and 18, 1863 in Berlin. On the occasion of the laying of the first stone in the foundation of the monument to King Frederick III. A delegation of the Imperial-Russian army arrived in Berlin and was also awarded a medal. The first Prussian was the Glaubitz firework, which fought a fire in a laboratory in Poznan. He served in the 5th Fortress Artillery Regiment, where he minted coins of Henri François Brandt (1798-1845) at the Royal Mint in Berlin. The crowns were delivered and soldered by court goldsmith Georg Hossauer. The total number of awards is not entirely clear. This medal is one of the rare honorary badges of the Kingdom of Prussia.
