German Awards - 1836 Rescue Medal
The medal was established on April 25, 1836 by Duke Wilhelm. This award was given to those who showed themselves to be bold and decisive actions, not caring about their own health, and thereby saved lives or defended other people's property. On medals, the carrier and year should be engraved as an edge inscription. In fact, such medals have not been proven. The number of awarded until 1913 is indicated in 84 pieces.
Silver medal with a small border. On top is a soldered eye with a ribbon ring.
Front side:
- In the center on the horizontal base is a curly sign with the letter - W -
- Above it is a ducal crown and 6 radiant stars.
- the left and right torso of the lion lying on the shield, facing forward.
- Above the shield on both sides obliquely 4 flags.
In the - upper part of the edge there is an inscription: - BADGE OF HONOR -, under the horizontal base there is an inscription in 3 lines:
- - COMPLIANT - AM - curved at the edge - XXV. APR. MDCCCXXXVI -
Downside:
- On a monstrous angel lying on his back.
In - the left hand palm
- Pointing right to a circle of stars hovering overhead (8 stars).
- Left edge curved font: - MUTHIGER THATEN -
- The inscription is arched to the right of the edge: - HONORARY AWARD -
