Grand Duke Frederick I instituted this medal on 25 April 1902. The reason was his 50th anniversary in the government. This commemorative sign was awarded to persons who served the Grand Duke and the country in public service. Eligible persons were appointed under the Establishment Order. The medal is made in light bronze. Several copies (44 medals) were also made of gold, which were awarded to the principalities at the celebration of the anniversary. The production was engaged in the artistic imprinting of B. H. Mayer in Pforzheim. The template for the obverse stamp was provided by the cast plate of Frederick I, created by Professor R. Mayer. The exact figures for the bronze medal are not known. It is estimated that there will be about 30,000 of them. There are also medals with a regular wire eye. They were also partially gilded and differ little in coinage. Whether this option was used to buckle comes out of my knowledge. Medals were not refundable.
