The Military Sanitary Order was established on October 16, 1914 by King Ludwig III. donated. Awards in the 2nd grade were awarded exclusively to sanitary officers of the army, who, risking their lives, earned their living by caring for the wounded and sick on the battlefields and in hospitals. 1st class was a gold cross, 2nd class was a silver cross with a gold middle shield. This award is the only award for courage established separately for doctors in an officer rank by the German state in World War I. I had to ask for an award. The decision to award was made by a commission of 5 people from Bavarian medical doctors. The order was subject to return. Non-Bavarian doctors could also be awarded the order. The holders of the cross received a lifetime pension. For the 1st class 600 marks, and for the 2nd class 300 marks. The manufacturers were the Hemmerle brothers from Munich. Circulation - 161 pieces. 1 class was awarded only 11 times.

On the upper cruciform shoulder is a pupate ear with a ribbon ring. In the medallion ring of manufacturers - G. Kh. - and a silver punch 950.
