This award was established simultaneously with the Military Merit Cross on December 8, 1914 by Prince Leopold IV. donated. He was awarded for special outstanding feats and individual feats, 1914-18 to death during the war. Infantry Regiment Battalion No. 55. Lippian subjects in other parts could also be awarded. Proposals with an accurate designation of the heroic act were sent to the Lippsky military cabinet. Possession of the Military Merit Cross or Iron Cross was not a prerequisite for award. nThe sole manufacturer of crosses was K. F. Zimmerman, Pforzheim. A distinctive feature of award products is a small plate under the needle hook. By 1921, 740 crosses had been awarded. Zimmerman's firm also made several examples of gilded silver, even with a screw disc. Crosses from other manufacturers are privately purchased items. Crosses were not refundable.
