Awards of Germany - Princely House Order of Hohenzollern Honorary Cross 3. Class with crown
The cross of honor shown here is 3. The class with the crown was established by Prince Wilhelm (1864-1927) as an addition to the home order along with the Gold and Silver Cross for Merit in 1910. King William II. Prussia agreed to the expansion on 6 June 1910. The distribution of individual classes was also revised. The honorary cross of the 3rd class with the crown was received by lieutenant colonels and senior captains who already had the 3rd class. In this case, only the crown was awarded, that is, supplemented. The order was established on October 1, 1935 by King Carol II. was adopted by Romania, cousin of Prince Frederick, as an order of the royal house and could be further borrowed.
The princely house order of Hohenzollern was established jointly by princes Konstantin Hohenzollern Hechingen and Karl Anton Hohenzollern Sigmaringen. The order initially consisted of 4 classes, an honorary cross of the 1st degree. class, 2 classes, as well as a gold medal of honor and a silver medal "For Merit." In 1844, the honorary cross of the 3rd class was added. Since 1852, the order was reorganized. Various additions were made in subsequent years. In 1866, swords were established for military merit. In 1891, the honorary Komtursky Cross was attached to it, in 1910 - the Golden and Silver Cross for Merit. In 1910, the 3rd grade was granted a crown. Classification: Cross of Great Honor, Cross of Honor 1st class, Cross of Honor, Cross of Honor 2nd class, Cross of Honor 3rd class, Golden Cross of Merit, Silver Cross of Merit, Gold Medal of Honor, Silver Medal of Merit.

Silver cross. The cruciform shoulders are finely ornamented without enamel. Lying inside on cruciform arms at a distance from the edge is a wide, black enameled strip with silver edges. Crosspiece ends are rounded outwards. Front and back with round middle shields worn. Between the cross-shaped sleeves, around the circumference, there is a green enameled and silver burgundy wreath of right oak foliage and left laurel foliage. (Front) An ordinary eye is soldered on the upper cruciform sleeve, into which a five-sided silver crown is movably suspended. The crown is aft, red enameled. A ribbon ring passes through the imperial crown apple.
Front side:
- Central gilded shield with a wide blue enameled ring, golden-toothed.
- It has a golden inscription: - FOR - LOYALTY - AND - MERIT -.
- Below in the center are tied 2 green laurel branches (3 leaves).
In - a surrounded, enameled field, a white curved golden coat of arms.
- This is a diagonal of 1/4 black and white enamel. Above it, the princely crown 1/2 was fed red.
Downside:
- Central gilded shield with a wide blue enameled ring, golden-toothed.
- It has a gold inscription: - DEN - 8 t.- APRIL - 1844 -.
- Below in the center are tied 2 green laurel branches (3 leaves).
In - a closed, enameled field, white rough letters - F C -.
- For Friedrich Wilhelm (Hohenzollern-Gechingen) and Karl (Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen)
- A golden princely crown floated freely above it.
