This medal was established by Prince Frederick on December 24, 1915. It served to recognize the merits in the field of charity during the war. The medal was awarded to men, women and virgins who did not have prestige and regardless of the rank, who in the difficult period of the war earned merits in the field of military care and charity, having made outstanding sacrificial activities. Medals were awarded with and without the manufacturer under the neck. The proposal for the award was made by Princess Bathildis. The medal was awarded with a diploma and was not subject to return. The circulation is about 310 pieces. There are also medals with a regular ear and made of military metal. These should be prints or so-called pieces of chips. The stamp was performed by Rudolf Kovartzik, a teacher at the Baden School of Arts and Crafts in Pforzheim. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945, vol. III, 1999.
