The 1849 campaign medal was only established on June 6, 1862 by Prince Georg Victor of Waldeck and Pyrmont. In the war with Denmark, the principality sent units for German federal troops. The contingent consisted of one infantry battalion assigned to the reserve division of the 2nd formation. The medal was established in memory of the battles of June 6, 1849 at Dupelle. The medal was awarded to all officers, non-commissioned officers, doctors and gamblers of the principality who were part of the battalion. In addition, each company received 10 medals for soldiers who distinguished themselves in battle or were distributed to the descendants of the dead soldiers. The result is an approximate figure of 100 pieces. The decoration of the medals was the same as that of the medals for the campaigns of 1810-1815. Medals with the same face have different dates of the year on the back. They were donated in 1850 by Princess Emma as the prince's guardian. Known medals with numbers 1813/1814, 1814, 1814/1815, 18/ 13/14/15, 1810 and without a number. Source: J. Nimmergut, Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945, vol. III, 1999.
