This badge of honor was established by Prince Albrecht of Prussia as regent of the duchy on November 28, 1887. This award was received by firefighters from Braunschweig fire stations on duty and volunteer fire brigades after 25 years of deserved and groundless activity. The badge of honour was made by Gustav Hanneck, Gravier und Impergeanstalt in Braunschweig. In 1893, the Union of Fire Lands also established an honorary badge for 10, 15 and 20 years of service, which was awarded in parallel with this. The award included a document issued and signed by the Braunschweig Land Fire Committee. In 1912, the 1st class badge of honor was established for 40 or 50 years of service. From that moment on, this award was called the "Badge of Honor of the 2nd Class" for 25 years. There was no demand for return after death. Source: J.
