German Awards - Commemorative Medal to 1. Wedding 1894
The medal was established in honor of the marriage of Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig with his first wife Victoria Melita. Victoria Melita was the daughter of Grand Duke Alfred of Saxony Coburg and Gotha. The medal was received by guests, court officials and officers present at the celebration in Coburg. The medal was made at the Berlin Mint H. Oertel. Circulation - 562 pieces.
Round silver medal with rim. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
Front side:
- In the center behind each other are left-facing portraits of a wedding couple.
- Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig in the foreground, Victoria Melita is half hidden behind him.
- Along the edge is the inscription: - SERIOUSLY - LUDWIG - GRAND DUKE - VICTORIA - MELITA -
- - GRAND DUCHESS - V. - HESSE -
- At the bottom along the edge are small: - OERTEL - BERLIN-JAUER - DIR. –
Downside:
- In the center are intertwined and inclined to the center of the letter:
- - EL - and - VM - for Ernst Ludwig and Victoria Melita.
- Above the letters is a large crown. At the bottom of the edge, the font:
- - VERMÄHLT - AM - 19. - APRIL - 1894 -.
- On the edge below are small: - STARCK - SC. - E. - DELLENBECK - FEC. -.
Tape:
white 36 mm, edges 2 mm, side stripes red 8 mm.
