The badge of honor was established by Prince Albrecht of Prussia, who ruled in Braunschweig from 1885 to 1906.
The medal was awarded for many years and conscientious performance of official duties in the same official respect. The badge of honor of the 1st class was awarded to the Order of Heinrich Leo. The medal was gilded with silver and very few with silver and awarded with gold. A separate ruling on this matter is not known. But the award lists are mainly foreign carriers. The medal was not refundable and continued to be worn even after being awarded the Order of Heinrich Leo. The 1st class badge of honor was awarded about 1800 times from 1903 to 1918. The bronze badge of honor of the 2nd class was established only in 1908 by Johann Albrecht of Mecklenburg as regent.
