After World War I, the Oldenburg Land Military Association established an honorary cross in 2 classes. 1st class was a gilded plug cross. Cross of Honour 2. The class was worn on tape. Association members have been awarded for excellent or special service to the association. In addition, commemorative badges were established for 50-, 40- and 25-year membership in the Union.
The Oldenburg Military Union was founded on October 26, 1873 in Oldenburg. The previously existing warrior clubs in Delmenhorst, Break and Varel merged under the leadership of the "Fighting Cooperative Union in Oldenburg" founded on April 26, 1872. The merchant Reyersbach presided. When it was created, there were about 800 members. On June 25, 1874, the Union of Jever Warriors joined the Union. In 1875, clubs from Herne, Elsflete, Ovelgonne and Stur joined them. In 1876, the Grand Duke accepted the protectorate of the Oldenburg Union of Warriors. On August 3, he became a retired major. Rudolf Strakerian is honorary president and then federal president of the Oldenburg Warrior Union. In 1878, the Confederation consisted of 12 clubs with 1266 members and 23 honorary members. On July 19, 1881, Grand Duke Peter established the membership badge of the Oldenburg Warrior Union, which now consisted of 38 clubs with 2,714 members and 213 honorary members. July 3, 1884 the Union joined the "German Union of Imperial Warriors." In 1894 there were 84 clubs with 6,780 members, 185 honorary members and 691 club mates. In 1896, the Grand Duke appointed, for Rudolf Strakerian, who died in 1895, Lieutenant General z. D. from legate to federal chairman. Renaming to Oldenburg Land Military Association took place around 1900. This is probably due to the creation of the Kyffhauserbund of German Landkrieger associations. In 1905, the Oldenburg Land Military Union had 197 clubs with 19,263 members. Already in 1913, the number of members grew to 25,884 in 259 clubs.
