The Golden Cross for 25 years of officer service was established on December 24, 1838 by the Grand Duke Paul Friedrich Augustus. It is awarded to officers who have served the faithful Fatherland for at least 25 years. Non-combat and military officials could receive a cross if they participated in at least one campaign. Awards day has always been December 24th. The years of the campaign against France were considered double. At the same time, a Silver Service Award Cross was established for military personnel, starting with sergeant major, below (non-commissioned officers). The reason for the creation of the fund was the 25th anniversary of the call of Duke Peter Friedrich Ludwig to the general armament of the country after his return from exile. After the conclusion of a military convention with Prussia on July 15, 1867, the awarding of military personnel was discontinued. On the lower cross there are crosses with the factory mark HOSSAUER. It contained 1844 26 gilded crosses. From 1852, officers were allowed to purchase a second item of clothing to avoid permanent uniform changes. A salary supplement was associated with the award. The circulation is indicated at 82 pieces. Source: Friedhelm Beyreiss, Order of the House and portable honorary signs of the Grand Duchy of Oldenburg 1813-1918.
