Awards for non-commissioned officers and soldiers in the Kingdom of Saxony were first established in 24. 12. 1831 by King Anton and his co-ruler Frederick Augustus. The first form consisted of a two-class for 15 years of service in silver and 10 years in bronze. The inscription on the back read - for a long and good service. On April 23, 1874, King Albert established new service awards for non-commissioned officers of the royal Saxon troops, which, according to the military convention with Prussia of February 7, 1867 XII. army corps were formed. Now, in addition, awards were presented to officers, a cross after 25 years of service, and a landver in 2 classes. Service awards were adjusted and awarded in 3 classes for 21 years, 15 years and 9 years. The service awards in force until then for 15 and 10 years were replaced by them. 1st class was a gold medal (c. 14 g), 2nd class - a silver medal (c. 11 g), embossing is identical to the bronze 3rd class depicted here. The inscription on the reverse changed to - for a long and faithful service. There are also gilded medals. The war years were counted twice. The stamps were made by Max Bardulek, an engraver on a Saxon state coin. The bronze medal was struck 11,800 times between 1874 and 1913.
In 1913, this one became the 2nd. The uniform has been replaced with new service awards.
