German Awards - Service Award 3. Class for 9 years
New service awards were established on December 20, 1913 by the Grand Duke Wilhelm Ernst. Service awards on the Prussian model were now awarded for 15, 12 and 9 years. Service awards dated 9 March 1872 were granted after 21, 15 and 9 years of service and replaced by a new uniform. Non-commissioned officers of the 5th Thuringian Infantry Regiment (Grand Duke of Saxony) No. 94 and the Grand Duke's gendarmerie corps were awarded. Retired non-commissioned officers could exchange a new form of service distinction at their own expense.
Round medal from Argentan (nickel silver) with a raised border. Above is a soldered ordinary eye with a ribbon ring.
