Awards of Germany - Order of Albrecht breast star to the Big Cross (1st diamond form circa 1851)

The Order of Albrecht was established after the revolution of 1848 on December 31, 1850 by King Frederick Augustus II. donated. The reason for this was the 350th. The day of the death of Albrecht Shelter (the progenitor of the Albertine line of the Vettins), who also became the namesake of the order. The terms of the award were very general. Initially, the order had 4 classes: the Grand Cross, Komtur 1st and 2nd. Class, knight and small cross. The crosses of the Grand Cross and the Komtur were the same size. The draft order belongs to Scharffenberg. J. F. Schroth's projects did not find favor and were rejected. The first form of the order, with a "bakery hat," was awarded until 1875. The image in the medallion represents perhaps the biggest mistake in the order's history. The portrait did not depict Albrecht, but Johann the Constant, the latter's nephew on the Ernestine line. This awkward mistake was corrected by a change in the medallion. The 2nd form shows a regular Albrecht with a folding cap. Chest stars until 1872 were awarded only in embroidered form. However, private metal products are known before. Scharffenberg created thoracic stars with smooth rays, as well as brilliant stars, starting in 1858. Other brilliant thoracic stars were made by Elimeyer (see Fig.). Other producers were Gaudet, Berlin, Rothe and Vincenck Mayer's Viennese sons. The most often represented thoracic stars of Elimeyer. The last 3 spheres or shiny rays of these stars are depicted slightly larger. The award number of the 1st form of the Grand Cross is 281 pieces.

Eight-pointed silver star. The rays are brilliant. The 8 main rays are elongated. There are 5 intermediate rays between them. Individual rays are bordered by smooth thin strokes. On the obverse in the center is a gold and enameled round medallion. The back side is smooth with a vertical pin and 2 additional hooks on the left and right. In the center is a round decorative overlay with the manufacturer's designation.

Front side:

• The medallion with a golden pearlescent outer edge was subsequently a wide style.
• This one is enameled blue and bounded inward with an even margin.
