Awards of Germany - Order of Albrecht Cross of Albrecht with swords (2nd form)
The Order of Albrecht was established on December 31, 1850 by King Frederick Augustus II. Initially consisted of 5 classes. The classes were Grand Cross, Komtur 1st and 2nd. Class, knight and small cross. 1861 was named 6. The class added a gold and silver medal for merit. The Albrecht Cross was established by King Albert on January 31, 1876. The cross replaced the Meritorious Service Medal awarded by then and formed the 6th class of the Order of Albrecht. The first form was issued until 1909 and was made of several parts. The 2nd form depicted here has been granted since 1910 and minted in a single piece. Later crosses tended to be made of silver-plated white metal. When performed with swords, crosses with smooth backs of swords or with embossed swords were found. The inscription on the medallions is also slightly larger.
