Demjanskschild was established by decree of Adolf Hitler on April 25, 1943. It was a memorial to the fighters of the many months of defense of the surrounded combat area around Dzhemansk. It was awarded to all Wehrmacht servicemen and subordinate troops participating in the defense. The battle lasted from February 8, 1942 to April 21, 1942. The right to receive was given to servicemen who worked continuously for at least 60 days, servicemen of the air force who made more than 50 flights, as well as servicemen who were injured or frostbite, marked with the sign "For injury." The documents issued by 31.12.1943 were signed by infantry general Count Brockdorf-Alefeldt, defender of Dzhemansk. Since he died in 09.05.1943, the signature was forged. The following units were in the boiler: 12th, 32nd, 123rd infantry divisions of the 2nd army corps, subordinate infantry divisions 30 and 290, as well as the 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf. It follows that the number of awards is about 96,000, including post-numeric awards. The shield was worn on the left forearm of the uniform. The shields were made of iron, military metal and non-ferrous metal. Due to the large number of manufacturers, differences in embossing and painting are possible. Silvered specimens are not officially awarded specimens. There were pins for a civilian suit.
