The Fire Service Cross was established by the Brandenburg Provincial Fire Union on October 22, 1933.
It was awarded only for outstanding services in the field of fire extinguishing within the framework of the provincial association. It was mainly fire leaders who were awarded after a long, honorable service for leaving active duty. The Brandenburg Provincial Fire Association was founded on June 4, 1877. Moritz Nommel was the first chairman of the Brandenburg Provincial Fire Union in 1877-1881. Other chairmen were Wilhelm Kurtzrock from 1884-1889 and Charles Friedrich Arnecke from 1908-1915. On May 20, 1883, the Prussian Union of Firefighters was founded. In 1897, the Brandenburg Provincial Fire Union already had 161 fire brigades with a total of 9,700 members, organized in 12 sub-associations.

Eight-pointed cross made of gilded silver. Crosses with a narrow red, translucent enameled edge. A cross hatch is visible below it. The inner sides are covered with white enamel. Front and back with a round medallion worn. 2 crossed golden torches pass through the center. Between the tops of the upper cruciform shoulder is an agraff in the form of a flame. Above is a parallel eye with a small ring and a ribbon ring.
